Flooring Installation

Have you recently purchased new flooring for your Southern California home or office? You may be in a position where you’re trying to decide if you want to install the flooring yourself or hire a professional flooring installer to get the job done for you. Installing new floors may seem like a simple task, but there are intricacies to the process that may be unknown to those who are not experienced in the field. There are many benefits to hiring a contractor to get the job done. At Vargas Flooring we are experienced in all types of flooring installation and offer our professional services at excellent prices. We offer residential as well as commercial installation services throughout Southern California. There are a few different ways hard surface floors are installed and we have expertise in each one. Here are the basics of each type of installation.
Flooring Installation

Floating Installation

Floating installation is the process of installing flooring material that will typically click and lock together. The planks are not secured directly to the sub floor offering a bit of flexibility of movement and room for the natural expansion and contraction of some flooring materials such as engineered wood. With the pieces of flooring material locked together they function as one, meaning it is one stable floor. One benefit of this method of installation is that you do not have to be concerned with having a level subfloor as you do with other methods. This is because the planks float slightly above the floor and are given room to move if needed. Floating installation will work for commercial installation and even residential installation services.

Staple Or Nail Down Installation

With a staple or nail down commercial installation the installer will do exactly as it says and will staple down the flooring material. The planks of hardwood are stapled to the subfloor below. It is important that the subfloor be level and prepared prior to the flooring installation to ensure accurate leveling of the commercial or residential floors and for the best outcome. This method of installation is best done by a professional to ensure favorable results for both residential and commercial installation processes.

Glue Down Installation

When glue down installation is the method of choice the flooring material is glued to the sub floor using an adhesive of some sort. Glue down installation is a great option where noise is an issue as these floors are often quieter than other types of flooring. These types of floors would be very useful in shared office buildings commercial installation services are a great option for the glue down method. Residential installations in a condo or an apartment home where foot noise may disturb neighbors is also ideal for the glue down method.
